KUMA AGM
30 November 2021
KUMA’s Annual General Meeting and AGM whanaungatanga event was held on a stunning day in Queenstown where over 30 of our locally based Māori businesses attended the hui and/or joined the KUMA Board for a fabulous evening at Blue Kanu. Karen Hattaway did not fail to live up to her long established reputation as the most welcoming and friendly owner of the Blue Kanu restaurant – kia ora Karen and whānau!
The AGM is an important annual event, where the KUMA Board presents the annual financial report to members and provides an overview of the year’s past activities as well as the key initiatives coming up in the year ahead. Members of the KUMA Board are nominated and voted onto the Board. As well as the governance responsibilities that must be upheld, it is a useful event to attend to experience governance in action, and maybe incite you to consider joining the KUMA or another board in future.
At this year’s AGM, members present voted in the 2022/23 KUMA Board comprising: Claire Porima, Karen Roos, Amber Bridgman, Katrina Bryant (all Ōtepoti representatives), Janice Lee (Murihiku), Karmela Rapata and Maria Rapata (Tāhuna, Central Otago), and Celia Crosbie, (Wānaka). All currently have or have been in business, and represent a cumulative number of years of experience across the private, not for profit and public sectors.
